A gasp from the room, [illegible], then the beginning of what might be considered and
uproar, the Judge banging with his gavel. Bailiff springs up. <Curtain [slams business?] down
a single [illegible] screams from Temple, invisible.>

<BAILIFF (loudly)
Order! Order in the Court! Order>

<Curtain descends rapidly, lights fade rapidly, darkness: a moment, then the Curtain
rises again on: 30 minutes later.> Curtain [slams?] hurriedly down, a
single moaning wailing [insert <sob< gasping sob] <cry>> in a woman's voice.

BAILIFF (loudly)
Order! Order in the Court! Order!

The curtain descends rapidly, lights fade rapidly, darkness: a mo-
ment, then the Curtain rises smoothly on the next scene: 30 mins. later.
Int. Living room, night. The room lights come on as tho someone about
to enter the door had pressed the switch, then Temple enters, followed by
Todd, then Stevens. All wear coats. Todd and Stevens carry their hats
in their hands. Stevens pauses <just inside the door>. Temple crosses <the
center and goes toward the [cold?] > toward the center of the room. Todd follows,
[illegible] close behind Temple as she shivers then pauses, lifts her arms enough for him
to take her fur coat> dropping his hat onto a sofa. Temple [illegible] and stops [insert at table,] <and
stands immobile, [illegible] still> strips gloves from her hand and takes cigarette
from box on the table.

TEMPLE (mimics Nancy: hysterical>
Yes God. Guilty God Thank you, God.

TODD [hovering?] on her): soothing)
Hush Hush now. Soon as I light the
fire, I'll fix [drinks?] a drink
(to Stevens)
Or maybe Gavin will do the fire
while I do the butler
