At the novel's close, Aaron owns "the other half" of the Jefferson restaurant, making him Flem's business partner (405). (In the next two novels in the trilogy he is named Grover Cleveland Winbush.)

Note: 
In the 1964 Random House issue of the uniform three-volume edition of the three Snopes novels, Grover Cleveland Winbush is named as Ratliff's co-owner, He is presented identically in the 1994 Modern Library edition,:I the later Library of America edition of The Hamlet. Aaron Rideout is once again identified as Ratliff's co-owner..
