Summary:

Ratliff and Henry Armstid arrive at Bookwright's, and Ratliff walks into the yard to fetch Bookwright. The two men discuss Henry's plan for the Old Frenchman's Place, and Ratliff explains that he also believes there is something valuable buried at the Old Frenchman's because Flem would have never taken it and the surrounding land as dowry. Bookwright then joins Henry and Ratliff on the buckboard, and they discuss the best way to travel to the Old Frenchman's Place without drawing attention from the folks in Frenchman's Bend.
