Summary: 

Because Gillespie somehow "knowed" that Darl burned his barn, the Bundrens agree to have him committed. Anse says "there aint nothing else to do" (232), and Cash echoes this, but he also is led to think seriously about the boundary between sane and insane. It's not clear exactly when or where this discussion occurs, but most likely during the night after barn burns and at Gillespie's, while Darl is with the coffin.
