Mrs. Binford
Mrs. Binford is "another of the Snopes girls," living with her husband "near Varner's store" in Frenchman's Bend (383). The novel tells us she was once badly injured, from "that time the brooder lamp blowed up and burnt most of her front hair off" (385) - which allows us to assume she and her husband raise chickens. But it doesn't give us a way to say for sure how, as a "Snopes girl," she's related to the rest of the family. There aren't many women nee Snopes on the family tree; "another" here seems to refer back to Dewitt Quistenberry's wife a few pages earlier, one of Flem's "sisters or nieces or something" (378). In "Barn Burning" and The Hamlet Flem has two sisters, twins. We speculate that these two "Snopes girls" are those twins, Ab's daughters, Flem's sisters - and that this one is the twin named Net in "Barn Burning" - but it has to be emphasized that all this is speculative.
