In this novel Eck's wife is the mother of Wallstreet Panic and Admiral Dewey Snopes. When Eck dies, she receives a thousand dollars and invests the money in Wall's grocery store. (On the other hand, in the earlier novel The Hamlet, Eck marries a second wife after his first one dies, and Wallstreet and Ad have different mothers.)
Note:
In The Hamlet, Eck is given two wives: a first wife, who may have died in childbirth, who is the biological mother to Wall Snopes, and a second wife, who bears him further children. The Town features the second wife, who is probably the mother of Admiral Dewey. The other children who are mentioned in The Hamlet do not appear in The Town.
