The car strikes the tree twice and is turned over onto its side with the force of the impact. Temple flies out of the car and sees two men watching her from the fringe of cane at the roadside: Popeye and Tommy. She tries to run away but falls over and then screams. Tommy stares on in astonishment, while Popeye leans on the upturned car. The accident seems to happen in the mid-afternoon; at 2 PM the car is in the road to Goodwin's.
