Summary:
Bayard goes straight to speak to his father but is ignored until after supper, at which time Bayard tells him (perhaps about kissing Drusilla, but more likely what George Wyatt had said about leaving Ben Redmond alone, though the text does not specify). Afterward, John Sartoris tells Bayard that soon, he will need Bayard to attend to some of his affairs, and that now he intends to do some "moral housecleaning": tired of killing men, regardless of the need, Sartoris says, "Tomorrow, when I go to town and meet Ben Redmond, I shall be unarmed" (232).
