"That Will Be Fine", 283 (Event)

Georgie goes to the house of the woman with whom Rodney is having the affair, planning to signal someone in the house and let that person know to meet Rodney on the corner in ten minutes. Instead, two people are hidden in the bushes, waiting for Georgie to divulge Rodney's whereabouts - the woman to warn him away and her husband to do him harm. Georgie delivers Rodney's message verbatim and carries one back from the man: "'She says to come and help carry it.' Say that to him twice, too" (283). Upon hearing the message, Rodney leaves on foot for the house while Georgie waits by the buggy.
