While doing his chores, Ike sees the smoke from a fire burning three miles away on Jack Houston's land. He imagines the cow retreating from the blaze and quickly attempts to descend the stairs of the hotel. Mrs. Littlejohn stops him, but Ike is not deterred. He dresses up his broom to resemble him and silently moves to descend the stairs anyway.
