The Hamlet, 373 (Event)

Ratliff turns his buckboard among the hedgerows and ties off his team. The lame-legged Armstid rushes off with Ratliff and Bookwright struggling to keep up through the undergrowth. Bookwright realizes that Henry has spent "more than one night" here already (374). They follow a ravine and begin to climb the bank, eventually having to drag Armstid up the hill toward the garden. On their bellies, they gradually crawl toward the garden and hear the sound of shoveling. Bookwright asks how they can be certain if it is indeed Flem Snopes.
