Quentin gets into a fight with Gerald and gets beat bloody. Quentin hit Gerald when Gerald was bragging about his sexual conquest. Quentin asked him "did you ever have a sister?" and then jumped on him to hit him. Gerald bloodied Quentin's face. Quentin had to leave the party alone to return to Harvard so he could clean up.

Summary: 

Shreve awakens Quentin from his memories of Mississippi by pumping water on him, to wash off the blood from Quentin's fight with Bland. The reader learns of this fight only as Quentin and Shreve talk about it with Spoade.
