This presumably takes place in or near the carriage house. (noted)
Benjy and Caroline go to the cemetery, presumably to put flowers on her died husband's grave. She is wearing a veil indicating that she is still in mourning. Roskus, the regular driver, is at home sick with arthritis, and T.P., Dilsey's 18 year old son is driving. It makes Caroline incredibly uncomfortable. They come across Jason along the way and ask him to join, but he refuses.
Summary:
On the way to the cemetery in the carriage, Mrs. Compson stops at the square to talk Jason. He tells her that Uncle Maury is asking for money.
