TMT 17 July 2014: I've dated this Event from the probable discovery of Milly's pregnancy at three months along to the time of Joe's birth.
Summary:
Mrs. Hines describes her husband's racist preaching and his efforts to find a doctor who would abort Milly's baby and his subsequent refusal to allow her to have a doctor when she went into labor. Milly dies in childbirth. According to Mrs. Hines, when Eupheus was tried for shooting the father, "the circus owner" testified that he "really was a part nigger instead of Mexican" (377).
