In his office on Monday night, Gavin finishes telling Chick and Miss Habersham what Lucas told him at Sheriff Hampton's house on Monday afternoon after the events of the week before that led up to his being framed for Vinson's killing. Having believed Crawford's story, he was waiting near the store when Vinson appeared and was shot.
